Our Leadership team was forged by two important events – the creation of iStrategy Solutions (Higher Education’s first dedicated Analytics application) and our subsequent experience from the acquisition of iStrategy by Blackboard to establish the Blackboard Analytics product line. Over time, that experience has taught us what works and what doesn’t, resulting in greater success for our clients.
We were first to deliver a full student lifecycle analytics and reporting application to the Higher Education market that included a data warehouse with a predefined ETL, dashboards and analytical reporting. These were invaluable to clients for admissions and enrollment management promoting retention and graduation rates.
Our team has worked with 200+ Higher Education institutions over 18+ years – longer than most companies focused on analytics have been in business!

What We Do
We have been leaders in the Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing (BI/DW) market in Higher Education for more than 18 years and commercial market for 20+ years, providing services and building Analytical applications and tools to support clients’ reporting and analytics requirements.
RS-5 helps higher education institutions take advantage of applicable business intelligence and reporting centered on students (acquisition, retention and attrition), faculty, classes, facilities, and tenure to maintain and develop more targeted school programs. Leadership Team
Sean Mallin
Sean is an accomplished senior executive with over 26+ years’ experience working in a variety of functional areas, including 18+ years in the higher education space. Mr. Mallin is the founder of iStrategy and Blackboard Analytics. He has a strong understanding of the higher education business operations, practices, and technology strategies. He has extensive experience managing resource teams in operational and project roles. Sean’s hands-on experience implementing complex systems, including creating Analytical, business intelligence and data warehousing solutions for higher education. Me. Mallin also has industry experience in financial management including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Proven project management skills managing large (1,000+ hour) projects. Me. Mallin is a Certified Public Accountant, State of Maryland (Inactive) and is a (OCP) Certified Oracle Professional.
Mr. Mallin’s extensive experience has lead all of todays leading Higher Education Analytics/Reporting companies to engage him for company and product advisory services. This uniquely positions his understanding of Analytics/Reporting products and services available today and how to form these into best practices solutions to the must pressing information needs in Higher Education.
Matt Kelly
Matt brings 22+ years of experience building enterprise software, with over 20+ years dedicated to creating business intelligence/data warehousing solutions and products for a variety of industries including higher education, health care, finance and retail.
Matt has spent the last 15+ years working with institutions to develop Higher Education business intelligence and data warehousing solutions at iStrategy Solutions and Blackboard Analytics. He understands the challenges institutions face when deploying these complicated systems.
